Mikrotik RouterOS MTCWE before ISPAmerica 2012 Symposium

Course Dates: March 29-30, 2012 (2 days)

This training course will cover Mikrotik RouterOS MTCWE (wireless).  Included in this training is EXTENSIVE hands-on training and an opportunity to take the Mikrotik Certification tests when we have finished.

Why you should attend this training?
Butch has been in the business of teaching end users about the MikroTik product since 2004. Butch Evans is the first trainer ever certified by MikroTik to present training on their product and was the first to develop a full training course on this product. Butch has been in the ISP business since 1994 and his extensive experience comes through in the training presentation. The core of our curriculum has been in development since 2004, so the presentation material you will see has been tested and proven to work well for both the student and teacher.

About the course.
This course is a detailed look at wireless technology in Mikrotik RouterOS V4.x and 5.x.  This course will use some materials developed by Mikrotik, however the majority of these materials are developed by Butch Evans.  The course content covers wireless technologies in MUCH greater detail than the certification test requires (hence the use of our own curriculum).  This is a LIVE, instructor led FULLY INTERACTIVE training course.  

Wireless Course (MTCWE)

• Technology choices (802.11 vs Nstreme vs Nstreme 2, etc.)
  
• Wireless Security
  • Use of the Access List and Connect List
  • RADIUS
  • Bandwidth controls and their impact on the network
• MANY types of wireless configurations (WDS, Mesh, AP, station, etc.)
• Bridging with Wireless in RouterOS
• LOTS of hands on experience

EXTENSIVE hands on labs are included.

Who Should Attend:
This training is targeted toward network administrators, integrators, managers and others who wish to gain a better understanding of wireless technologies in general and wireless configuration options with Mikrotik RouterOS specifically.

Prerequisites:
ALL attendees who wish to take the certification test MUST already have passed the MTCNA certification.  If you would just like to attend and learn the material without taking the certification test, then the MTCNA is not required, but you will not be able to take the certification test at the end.  It is also necessary that attendees be familiar with connecting to an installed Mikrotik RouterOS router using Winbox.

2 days (Includes LOTS of hands on training)

What you will need

You will need to have a laptop with an ethernet port avialable.  It is recommended that you also have a wireless card, but that is not necessary.  You may use Windows, Linux or Mac, but you should be familiar enough with your own operating system to be able to start the winbox application.  Everything else is provided.

We will hold classes at the Disney's Coronado Springs Resort at Disney World Orlando.  This training event is immediately before and a part of the ISPAmerica 2012 Symposium, powered by WISPA and FISPA.

Certification:

Certification tests are optional.  You will have the opportunity to take the MTCWE certification test following this course.  This course will cover the content necessary to take the following certification tests:

• Mikrotik Certified Wireless Engineer (MTCWE)

NOTE: Mikrotik certification tests are written by Mikrotik trainers from around the world.  As a trainer, I do not have the ability to review the test questions for accuracy or content.  Additionally, I cannot review the test questions that will be offered for any individual test.  Upon successful completion of a certification test, your certificate(s) will be posted to your account at http://www.mikrotik.com/ and you will be able to print the certificates from that account server.

REFUNDS: In case you need to cancel your participation for this course, a written notice should be sent by e-mail to butche@butchevans.com prior the seminar. There is an administrative fee of $100 for refunds. There is no refund for training fee paid, if cancellation is received less than 10 days before the event.
